5 REALITY SHOWS I THINK YOU SHOULD WATCH

1. BIG BROTHER NAIJA

Source: BellaNaija

Big brother Naija popularly referred to as BBNaija is a Nigerian reality TV series. The reality show is actually a competition where contestants from different backgrounds in Nigeria are isolated in a particular house called “Big brother’s house” and they are left alone to survive with their housemates without interacting with their families and friends. However, biggie provides their basic needs like; food, water, accommodation, and clothing.

I find this show fascinating cause how do you just live in a particular place for a particular period of time with the provision of your basic needs just to win millions at the end of the game.

The winner of BBNaija 2021 season 6 “shine your eye ” by name Hazel Oyeze Onou popularly known as White Money, received a cash prize of N30 million and a brand new G-40 SUV from Innoson Motors, coupled with a few endorsements he signed after the show.

My favorite parts in this show are; the arena games, the Saturday night party, the diary room session (this is quite therapeutic), and the Eviction show.

After one season of the show, there is a sort of continuation called “The Reunion”. The reunion is where ex-housemates come together with the Host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who has been the host for 5 out of the 6 episodes, to analyze, dissect and evaluate what it was like being in biggie’s house. Also, during the “reunion” the ex-housemates reflect on where they are now, like how far they have come in developing themselves and adapting to their new celebrity lifestyle. Now here are the reasons why I think you should watch Big Brother Naija;

Ø You get to know how other people from other cultures act and behave, apart from how they depict the culture in movies. This is reality!!

Ø It is also a platform where products of different types are advertised.

2. KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS

Source: Variety

This particular show has been going on for “years”, it is actually a show about a family, “The Kardashians”. Keeping up with the Kardashians is an American reality television show that follows the Kardashian–Jenner blended family's personal and professional activities. Ryan Seacrest, who also acted as an executive producer, came up with the concept. The show debuted on the E! cable network on October 14, 2007, and continued for 20 seasons, making it one of the longest-running reality shows in the United States. On March 18, 2021, the last season premiered. The series focuses mainly on sisters Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé Kardashian as well as their half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner. It also features their parents, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner), and brother, Rob. The Partners of the Kardashian sisters have also appeared on the show.

Here is the reason why I think you should watch KUWTK;

Ø To be entertained OBVIOUSLY

3. CAKE BOSS

source: Pinterest

I have been watching this show for as long as I can remember. The Cake Boss series premiered in 2009 and follows the operations of Valastro's family business. It is a reality show about an Italian-American family-owned business in Hoboken, New Jersey owned and operated by siblings Buddy Valastro (to whom the series' title refers), his wife, Lisa, and his sisters Maddalena Castano, Grace Faugno, and Mary Sciarrone. The show focuses on how they manufacture their edible art cakes, as well as the interpersonal ties between the shop's numerous family members and other staff. The series premiered on April 19, 2009, and has spawned four spin-offs: Next Great Baker, Kitchen Boss, Bake You Rich, and Bakery Boss. The popularity of the show has resulted in increased business for Carlo's Bake Shop, as well as increased tourists to the Hoboken area. Carlo's Bake Shop has become a tourist destination as a result of the series' popularity, with lines reaching down the block and around the corner. My favorite part has to be when Buddy says “they call me buddy I’m the boss”. Did I forget to mention that buddy’s dad taught him how to make cakes and his grandfather taught his dad how to bake cakes too?

Here’s why I think you should watch Cake Boss;

Ø To learn the skill, for those of you that are interested

Ø To learn how to handle a leadership position in a family setting

Ø To see the amazing process that goes into cake baking

Ø To learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation

4. JUDGING MATTERS

Source: BellaNaija

Judging Matters is a reality TV show which helps to address the issues fore-mentioned using the arbitration system; the show deals with minor cases of real people getting justice from a small claims court. The show is suited for small claims and minor cases. Cases on the legal reality TV show are judged by the duo Justice Olusola Williams and TV host and lawyer Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. The show covers a wide range of topics, featuring many different people, which is why you'll be hooked in no time. Tune in Fridays at 21:30 CAT on Africa Magic Showcase, DStv Channel 151 to see if justice is served. Here’s why I think you should watch judging matters;

Ø To learn how to handle little cases and matters between friends and close relations.

Ø To know the little things that cause conflicts or disagreement, and be able to avoid them

5. THE VOICE NIGERIA

Source: BellaNaija

The Voice Nigeria is the Nigerian version of the TV series ‘The Voice’. The show features five stages of the competition. The first begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, the Knockouts, the Live Playoff's and finally, the Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. If more than one coach turns their chairs, the contestant gets to pick his/her preferred coach.

The Live Shows follow the combat rounds. During this stage, each of the contestants performs a song chosen by their coach, with the coach saving one out of every four contestants and the rest being decided by public vote. Every week, the public votes save one talent from each team, while the rest are ejected. The talents are whittled down from 32 to 16, then to 12, and finally to 8 who advance to the finals. The public votes choose the champion and runner-up from the top eight. Esther Benyeogo emerges winner of The Voice Nigeria Season 3, She gained the highest number of votes, to beat out the other top 5 talents to walk home with the coveted prizes including a cash reward of 10 Million Naira, an SUV, and a recording contract from Universal Music Group. Here’s why I think you should watch the voice;

Ø To be able to discover talents

Ø To get inspired to show your talent.

I hope you guys enjoyed this episode, also I hope I gave you enough reasons to watch these reality shows, cause I know some of you are not great fans but trust me you will find them interesting.

see you in my next episode

XOXO
