Skiibii secures his latest hit with the remix of his addictive new single "Baddest Boy"

Davido's entry into the game was like no other. His debut track ‘Back When’, a bogus grass to grace record came with a heavyweight feature, Naeto C, one of the best and hottest rappers around at the time. His second record “Dami Duro” needs no introduction. It swept across the nation just weeks after his release and has firmly remained one of the most noteworthy tracks of the last decade. Every move he made upon entry was strategic, backed by major league connections and a boatload of cash. He was like the pop Bruce Wayne (except obviously he still had and still has one parent alive). He was notorious for acquiring some of the flashiest rides and throwing some of the biggest and fanciest parties. That’s why it came as no surprise when he quickly adopted the alias Baddest a few years into his career.

This is also why it made perfect sense that Skibii enlisted Baddest ー who is not only one of the biggest artists on the face of the continent but also one who has acquired a striking reputation for elevating records with his croaky croons, energetic flows, sticky ad-libs and ultimately his Midas touch ー for the remix of “Baddest Boy” the sleeper hit off his debut project God Is Bigger Than Man. The addictive mid-tempo slapper which was released last week Friday already started garnering steam when a snippet of Davido’s verse leaked days before its official release and it’s easy to see why. While the original is equally sturdy and addictive, Davido takes the remix to a whole new level. Putting aside his pretty impressive verse for a minute, it’s his irresistible and snappy “shekpe”,“prrr” and “woo” that sets the tone and does most of the trick coupled with his stirring melodies and smooth backing vocals. He has perfected this art. Adding the right things in just the right places to take a song from level 50 all the way to a 100.

While Davido does Davido does, credit is most definitely due to Skibii, the 29-year-old biennial hitmaker, as well who smoothly glides over Runchekk’s slick drums and synths making “Baddest Boy” a compelling and irresistible banger.
