Being a student means one is left to fend for himself and there are certain skills that would be necessary for survival. One of those skills is cooking, if not at a professional level then at least the basics should be known. Here are 5 meals that could be cooked or easily prepared to prevent stress.
1. GARRI
This is most common meal for students especially when running low on cash to buy proper food. It is a life saver and one can drink it with either groundnut or kuli kuli with sugar and milk depending on how you like it.
2. INDOMIE
The proper name is noodles but Nigerians call it indomie. It is fast and easy to cook and sometimes can be eaten raw. Indomie can be mixed with corned beef, sardine, egg or suya. It's not easy to mess up indomie so anyone who does that has no future in cooking, I'm sorry to say.
3. BEANS
For students who are able to cook in their respective hostels, this is another easy meal to make. It can be eaten with raw garri, bread, yam or rice. It is very filling and one wouldn't go hungry for awhile.
4. BREAD
This is the most essential food item for students. There are lot of combos that are taken with bread like bread and akara, bread and sardine, bread and beans, bread and tea, bread and butter, bread and groundnut, bread and fish or egg and maybe at dire moments bread and coke. Bread is also very filling and can sustain one for the whole day.
5. SPAGHETTI
Because it is made in school without a well furnished kitchen supplies are limited. This can be made with tin tomatoes and onions in one pot and if provision is made for any other ingredient can be included.
