We can go no further than the underlying secrets of America's typical small towns to similar deals between PLL and Riverdale. It's hard to deny the odd sense of deja vu these shows give off when seen side by side.
Let’s get into it…..
Both Shows Start With A Missing Body
There is a body in the opening episode of both Riverdale as Well as the Walking Dead: Riverdale High School's golden kid Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines) has been presumed drowned. Assumed deceased queen bee Alison (Sasha Pieterse) has gone missing from the show (until those text messages start up, of course). After the pilot episodes of both series, both bodies are found.
Hoods and Hoodies
The Riverdale Cast/ Source: The CW
During the second season, Riverdale is plagued by a serial killer who wears a black hoodie and wears a black hood over his face. They know what it feels like to be afraid of someone in a hood since A's favorite disguise was everyone's go-to athleisure item.
Plot Convenient Evil Twins
To steal his niece Cheryl's (Madelaine Petsch) heirloom, Claudius Blossom (Barclay Hope) makes an appearance in season 2. Clifford Blossom's evil twin brother, Claudius, is the same as Clifford's evil brother, Claudius. No one in town had heard of him before to Claudius' arrival. Besides being Spencer's long-lost, spiteful (and English!) cousin, Alex was also A.D. on PLL.
Similarly Terrible Mental Health Institutes
Radley Sanitarium/ Source: Freeform
Pretty Little Liars' psychiatric theme: Radley Sanitarium is where it all begins and ends. People who are released from Radley's mental hospital report worsening mental health rather than improving it. The Sisters of Quiet Mercy, Riverdale's own horrible mental health institute, is clearly worse than Radley:
Musty Crusty Dusty
While this seems to be a common theme in most teen dramas, Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars both have their fair share of bad dads. He may not be as nasty as Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos), but that's only because he has actual mafia links in PLL's Peter Hastings (Nolan North). As for Peter, he's always been on a mission to kill everybody who stands in his way.
Missing Siblings
Polly (Tiera Skovbye) relocated to San Francisco with her twins, so Betty (Lili Reinhart) rarely sees her sister Polly (Tiera Skovbye). Even though he was supposed to be in the room next door, Aria (Lucy Hale) was having trouble keeping track on her brother Mike (Cody Christian). The elder sister of Spencer (Torrey DeVitto) on PLL, Melissa (Cole Sprouse), lived in London, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, whereas Jughead (Cole Sprouse) on Riverdale had a younger sister we've never met.
Unrealistic Plotlines
Miss Grundy With Archie/ Source: The CW
They take place in a realm that is beyond the reach of our current understanding of the world. An underground torture dungeon and a board game that might lead to death are the norms on this planet.
While Rosewood and Riverdale have had their fair share of real-world events like school dances, the vast bulk of what takes on there would be deemed abnormal. "A" constructed an underground dollhouse with rooms that resembled the bedrooms of the Liars. Besides that, he was well-versed in every facet of their lives. Moreover." It's just as concerned about Archie's reputation as a youthful vigilante as it is about Veronica's speakeasy and serial-murdering genes.
Family Trees With Too Many Branches
According to the results of this puzzle, the person's immediate family is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their connections. Until Spencer Hastings found out about her father's infidelity, she thought she knew her family. Peter DiLaurentis is the biological father of Jason DiLaurentis, making Spencer and Jason half-siblings, and Alison and Spencer cousins. Peter was Spencer and Melissa's father.
However, when Spencer realizes that Veronica is not her biological mother, this all makes sense. When it came to Spencer, though, it was the result of an extramarital liaison between Peter Hastings and Mary Drake that brought him into being. Betty and Cheryl, meantime, are taken aback when they learn that the Blossoms and the Coopers are distant cousins.
An Unusual Amount of Deaths
When it comes to population density, Riverdale and Rosewood are above the national average. Oftentimes, people of all ages — from adolescents to seniors — are in a condition of grief. The death of Jason Blossom in Riverdale sparked a series of events in the little town. As a result, Riverdale's death toll rose quickly in season two, and the Black Hood's rampage continued in season three.
Many people perished while "A" rampaged over Rosewood, which is understandable. On the other hand, "A" didn't go about killing everyone. Additionally, the Liars had a hand in the gruesome murders of Rosewood residents.
Student-Teacher Relationships…. ew
Aria With Ezra/ Source: Freeform
The story of a teacher falling in love with one of her students has been around for quite some time. Aria and Ezra, as well as Archie and Ms. Grundy, have used it in Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars.
No matter how much both shows agree that this is a bad match, the characters never seem to get the message. Unlike the Riverdale parents who took action against Ms. Grundy, Ezra suffered no repercussions from his actions in this case.
