TIPS FOR A HEALTHY FASTING

As the 21 days, winners fasting and prayer and also the 50 days redeem fasting and prayer begin it is important to know certain things to ensure your fasting goes smoothly so you don’t end up with stomach complications or something worse. Here are a few tips I had to learn the hard way.


1. Always hydrate

You’re not eating which means nothing is getting in your body system so you need to make sure you take water a lot more than you usually do. It will help you stay energized so you won’t feel tired or hungry.


2. Don’t overexert yourself

Take it easy with gentle exercise like walking. Not long distances though because your body is working to restore vitals and remove damaged cells. Take lots of breaks and avoid exhausting work, the system is not receiving enough to help with fatigue. Get fresh air, relax and sleep early.


3. Break with healthy meals

At the end of your fast, you need to break with healthy and satiety meals that would digest slowly that would supply the body with energy for the remainder of the day. Never break a fast with heavy meals because it could end with stomach cramps.


4. Limit salt intake

High salt intake could lead to more dehydration and water loss so try as much as possible to avoid food with large amounts of salt.


5. Get a good night sleep

When it’s time to break your fast make sure you get to eat 2 hours before you go to sleep. Eating satiety meals instead of high-fat meals close to bedtime is one step to avoid stomach upset because fat takes a longer time to digest and would lead to little sleep.
